could be a cavity in between 2 teeth at the point of contact , not easily identifiable , but can easily be confirmed by a dental examination. the pain is due to a triggered response from a nerve which is either exposed or is now closer to the surface due to loss of protective tooth structure. expect the treatment to either a filling with or without a base depending on the depth , or might go for a root canal in case the cavity has reached the nerve .

There can be multiple reasons for that. You should visit your nearby dentist and get an xray done. It can be tooth decay or bone loss between the two tooth which causes food lodgement.
