Stool issue

Hello Doctor, I have been passing stool 2 times a day, but only a small amount comes each time. The stool is soft, not hard. Earlier, I used to pass stool normally, but for the past few days only a small amount comes each time. I also don't feel the usual urge to pass stool, and when I do go, only a small amount comes out. I have a burning sensation while passing stool and for a few minutes afterward. In the past 1½ months, I have noticed blood while passing stool on 3 occasions. Since today, I have also been having mild pain inside the anus and mild pain in the lower left side of my back. I am recovering from an ectopic pregnancy, and my beta-hCG is now around 3.6. Could this be constipation, an anal fissure, hemorrhoids, or something else? What tests or treatment would you recommend? Should I see a gastroenterologist or another specialist?

Passing stool twice daily is not abnormal by itself; the important points are whether it is hard, painful, associated with straining or a feeling of incomplete evacuation. This can occur with constipation, fissure/hemorrhoids or irritable bowel, but an examination is needed if it persists. Increase fluids and fibre gradually, and avoid straining or sitting on the toilet for long. You can book a Practo consultation so I can review the full history.
Next Steps
Please seek prompt in-person review for blood in stool, black stool, severe pain, vomiting, fever, weight loss or persistent change in bowel habit. A doctor may need a rectal examination and further tests based on your symptoms.

These symptoms of straining, blood streaks, and anal pain point more toward a fissure or piles than anything related to your ectopic pregnancy recovery.
Next Steps
A gastroenterologist or proctologist can examine and confirm this with a simple local exam.
Health Tips
Please continue your separate beta-hCG follow up with your gynaecologist until it's fully cleared.
