Please don't be scared â this sounds very manageable. Post-meal stomach pain that is relieved after going to the bathroom, along with semi-loose stools and no fever or blood, is a classic presentation of a mild gut irritation or irritable bowel syndrome triggered by dietary change and possibly stress. This is very common when someone is away from their regular food and eating unfamiliar cafeteria food. The fact that you feel better after eating idli, khichdi, and curd shows your gut is responding well to light, easy-to-digest food â you are doing the right things. Yogurt/curd is an excellent idea as it contains natural probiotics that help restore the gut lining.
Next Steps
Continue with light, easy-to-digest food (curd rice, khichdi, idli, banana, toast). Avoid spicy, oily, and processed cafeteria food as much as possible for the next 5-7 days. You can take a probiotic capsule (like Vizylac or Sporlac) once daily after food for 7 days â this will help significantly. If pain is bothersome before/after meals, a mild antispasmodic tablet (ask your campus doctor for Mebeverine or Spasmonil) will help. Drink plenty of water. If you develop fever, blood in stool, or pain gets severe â see a doctor immediately. Otherwise you should be fine within a few days. Please consult me directly on Practo for a detailed evaluation.
