Hi, a wisdom tooth often causes pain and discomfort while erupting, more so if the adjoining gum tissue gets traumatised or infected due to inadequate oral hygiene. If the problem is recurring in nature I will advise you to visit an oral surgeon who will examine it & in all possibility advise an X-ray to assess its chances of eruption. At times there is lack of space for the tooth to erupt properly, in those situations it is recommended to get it removed to avoid repeated episodes of pain and swelling. He may also prescribe you a short course of antibiotic & pain killer to help you recover from the discomfort. All the best.
