My first molar decayed and had broken off years ago. But the roots were left behind. And it pains now. The gums under it had swollen.

Don't be afraid of removal .... please contact Oral surgeon and do the extraction of teeth.If we keep such infected teeth it acts as focus of infection and Which is now linked to preterm delivery, heart problems, Diabetes etc ...Removal of such teeth is sooner the better.
