Root canal

I had a filling done almost 10 years ago and my new dentist said it might be a botched filling because it shows cavity in xray beneath it  and he asked me to wait and watch the tooth because currently I am not in pain and it might not be right to operate the tooth when it has no symptoms whatsoever but he said it might require a capping and a root canal in future, so would it be wise to wait it out could the cavities stop progressing ?

Please share x ray of concerned tooth. If any periapical changes are visible we must proceed with RCT. If not wait and watch.
