Rod removal from leg

I had an accident in 2007 in which I broke my leg. I got it operated in which doctor had inserted the rod. It's been 10 almost 9 years I have not removed it . I know I have to remove it but m scared now. Removing after so many has some side effect?please guide

Quadriceps Exercises- Lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core Strengthening Exercise- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.

Most nails ,rods are removable after fracture unites well and a reasonable time frame allowed for the bone to gain strength,more caution is needed for weight bearing bones. 10 years is more than required, You can contact a good orthopaedic surgeon

If u have any pain in that leg than u should consult doctor. Removal of rod doesn't have any side effects
