Regarding thyronorm

2022-02-20 17:22:59
Hi, I was taking 25mcg thyronorm for the past one year since dec 2020. I missed to take medicine by the end of Dec 2021 for almost three weeks. After which I took thyroid test. TSH was 12.4. Doctor advised me to take 50mcg.I did the same for 15-20 days. And again I took test my TSH range has come down to 3.5 something. But my doctor advised me to continue with same dosage 50mcg. Doesn't it cause hyperthyroid. Pls advice. Regards, Aarthi R

You need to continue.  50mcg is not a high dose too. TSH has to be ideally checked only after 6 weeks. Thyroxine supplementation with the present dosage causing thyrotoxicosis is very rare.
