rct is a complex process in which cleaning and shaping of the canal is done and then it is filled with a material. this whole process is done using rotary files and medicaments which are expensive. the doctors expertise comes into play as well as the fact that you would want everything to be of best standards bacause a rootcanal lasts forever. so as you can see it is more than a cleaning activity..the dentist will take 3-5 x rays to verify each step as well.

A procedure that saves the tooth which is extremely symptomatic otherwise or is not responsive for conservative treatment and most importantly, a tooth which would have been advised extraction only 20 years back will seem expensive only if you do not understand the value of saving a single tooth. Please understand it is not just a cleaning procedure and even during our education it takes at least 2 years to master the technique. And then there are different dentists with different experience using different materials which also very in their costs and hence the cost of the treatment where is from dentist to dentist. Please don't mind but you seem educated enough to understand that every cavity starts as a pin point Lesion and you require root canal treatment only because you have ignored that cavity for months atleast, if not years. The caps that we talk about are manufactured by different companies which provide different warranty certificates and use Different techniques and materials for fabricating those caps. I wonder if you have the same approach when you go and buy a shirt which can range from 200 to 50000 rupees????? Please do not undermine this profession by comparing it just with the cost being asked for.... it requires years of learning and experience to have that capability so that we can make a treatment successful.
