Better get a complete TMJ evaluation prior to splint/night guard placement. Consult a TMD specialist for sure

Your dentist is absolutely right . Nightguards or Occlusal splints are usually suggested in case of teeth grinding or bruxism. The doctor will take your teeth measurements and will send the impressions to the dental laboratory for fabrication of the appliance. Charges varies from clinic to clinic depending on location of clinic, qualification of the doctor , lab charges etc . approx in the range of 3k-6k min.
Next Steps
You can go ahead with the treatment with your dentist .

Your dentist is right. U must use night guards. It helps to protect the existing teeth and tooth structure. If not used can result in excessive wear of teeth and hence RCT followed by bruxer crowns will be required. Even the TMJ joint gets affected. U can ask for soft night guards which are more comfortable to wear. Cost varies, but should be somwer between 4k - 6 k.

Hi, The advise given by your dentist is correct. The attrition is probably due to unconscious grinding of the teeth in the night while sleeping. Initial few days, you will slight discomfort while going to sleep, but will get used to it in a few days. This will do disturb your sleep.
