Is psychosis and schezophrenia one and the same?

Schizophrenia itself is a type of psychosis. We call it as schizophrenia, when psychotic & behavioural symptoms last for at least a month (as per ICD diagnostic criteria).

Dear mam, Psychosis is a disorder of thinking characterised by delusions (firm and fixed false thoughts), hallucinations (perceptions of sound/vision/sensation without a stimulus) and disorganised behavior (poor hygiene habits, odd dressing etc.) Schizophrenia is a type of psychosis, one of the severest variety and has its own criteria for diagnosis.
