Hello, I am Dr Romain Rajan, General Physician. Your case has been allotted to me.
I understand your concern. Acne prone skin needs the right type of face wash because using a harsh or unsuitable cleanser can worsen breakouts, oiliness and irritation.
Advices
1 Wash your face twice a day only, as over washing increases oil production and worsens acne.
2 Use lukewarm water instead of hot water because hot water dries the skin and triggers oil glands.
3 Avoid scrubbing the face as it increases inflammation and can spread acne bacteria.
What to Monitor
1 New redness or burning sensation after using a product.
2 Increase in acne after starting any new face wash.
3 Excess dryness or peeling around nose and chin.
Management
A good face wash for acne prone skin should contain salicylic acid or gentle anti acne ingredients. Based on your skin type, you may try any one of the following
1 A salicylic acid based cleanser like Minimalist 2 percent Salicylic Acid Face Cleanser
2 A gentle acne control face wash like The Derma Co SaliCinamide Anti Acne Face Wash
3 If your skin is sensitive, a calming option like Dot and Key Cica Calming Face Wash works well
These clean the pores and reduce oil without irritating the skin. If acne is moderate to severe, then face wash alone may not be enough and you may need a personalised treatment plan including gels or medicines.
