Namaskaram,
Wisdom teeth come out into the oral cavity, by creating a lot of fuss. If we were from a different time we would not have such issues with it. During the course of evolution, our jaw size became smaller. It is when the wisdom teeth make an attempt to crawl out, the gums surrounding it feels threatened and produce an inflammatory reaction, called pericoronitis. It happens as a result of overhanging of the gums on to the partially erupted wisdom teeth, generally affecting the lower jaw. Pericoronitis can be tamed with analgesics and antibiotics which can reduce the pain and chances of infection. Gargling with luke warm saline water for 2 to 3 days will help. A permanent solution for it is to get it extracted by a dental professional. Extractions have walked a long journey to a point, where today we have several layers of anesthesia which can make the process painless and ephemeral. Your wisdom has nothing to do with the teeth.
