The pain you are describing between the shoulder blades after eating, especially when you eat large meals or unhealthy foods, along with a burning sensation in the lower back, is most commonly related to acid reflux, gastritis, or indigestion, rather than a problem with the spine or heart. After heavy or spicy meals, excess acid and gas in the stomach can cause referred pain, which is felt in areas away from the stomach, such as between the shoulder blades or in the back. This happens because the stomach and upper back share common nerve pathways. Acid reflux or gastritis can also produce a burning sensation that may be felt in the upper abdomen, chest, or lower back. The fact that the pain is triggered by food intake and not by physical exertion strongly supports a gastrointestinal cause. Such symptoms are usually aggravated by large meals, oily or spicy foods, late-night eating, alcohol, and prolonged sitting or slouching posture. Management includes eating smaller and more frequent meals, avoiding trigger foods, not lying down immediately after meals, and maintaining good posture. If symptoms are frequent, short-term acid-suppressing or anti-reflux treatment may be needed.
Health Tips
If the pain becomes severe, persistent, unrelated to meals, or is associated with symptoms like chest tightness, breathlessness, vomiting, or unexplained weight loss, further evaluation would be required. In most cases like yours, this condition is benign, common, and very manageable with proper dietary and lifestyle correction.
