If you are experiencing pain in your upper right canine after being given elastics by your orthodontist to correct your tooth alignment, it's important to contact your orthodontist immediately. The pain may be due to sizing errors in the elastic or may indicate a more serious issue with your braces treatment. Elastics come in different sizes and strengths, depending on the specific purpose for which they are being used. It's possible that the elastic you were given is too small or too tight, which could be causing the pain in your upper right canine. Alternatively, the pain may be caused by a more significant issue with your braces, such as a loose bracket or wire. To determine the cause of the pain and discomfort, it's important to contact your orthodontist and schedule an appointment. They can evaluate your braces and elastics and make any necessary adjustments to alleviate your pain and ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned. In the meantime, you can try to manage the pain with over-the-counter pain relievers and by applying a cold compress to the affected area. It's also advisable to avoid hard or sticky foods that may exacerbate the pain.

The size of the elastics is decided by the orthodontist based on the requirements of each patients case. If the pain is too much consult your orthodontist directly.

In simple terms elastics are used to rotate or de-rotate a tooth, also to bring teeth closer to each other, your orthodontist might be planing for correction of angulation of teeth now, so do not worry and follow the instrucion given by your own dctor.

Hi When elastics are placed, forces are delivered for moment  you will experience pain, soreness , tenderness for the next 3-4 days and it will gradually decrease. You don't have to worry about it,it's common, you can take paracetamol,if your experiencing unbearable pain .
