No delivery pain -39 weeks

2025-06-26 12:50:20
Today, 39th week is completing. My edd is 4th July. Baby is in cephalic position but head is not fixed yet. Doctor examined and said my cervix is closed. Doctor wants me to get admitted today, remove cervix stitch which was placed during 24th week and induce labour. But I want to wait three more days to see if there is a natural possibility. Please let me know if it's safe to wait till Sunday. My BP is normal and baby's heart beat is normal.

Your Doctor is right. He has no interest in running around in the middle of the night because of your whims and fancies. And what are you going to gain by keeping the stitch for another three days. If anything you will be disturbing your whole family in the middle of the night.           And if you start getting painless contractions in the middle of the night your baby will be compromised and you will not even know about it.

The cervical stitch should have been removed after 36 weeks! Why is it still in situ  at 39 weeks! The stitch needs to be removed and you can wait for spontaneous onset of labour if you want to wait for three more days The reason why the stitch should be removed at 36 weeks is because if you go in labour and take time to reach the hospital the cervix will tear in a bucket handle fashion and that will be difficult to repair

If ultrasound is normal, no diabetes or hypertension then you can wait till due date. Stitch can be removed tomorrow and then wait till due date.
