My baby is two months old and is vomiting from past three days. I have given him Domstal five drops three times a day, but this is not helping. Now the doctor has given Nexpro Junior, but I'm scared because he's just two months old. What can be done ?

A 2-month-old infant with vomiting for 3 days requires prompt pediatric assessment. Persistent vomiting at this age should not be assumed to be GERD. The infant should be assessed for hydration, feeding, weight gain and red-flag features, including projectile or bilious vomiting. Hypertrophic pyloric stenosis should be considered, particularly with progressively forceful non-bilious vomiting.
Next Steps
Arrange same-day pediatric review. Continue breast/formula feeding in appropriate small, frequent feeds if the baby is able to keep feeds down. Assess urine output and hydration. If vomiting is projectile, green/bilious, bloody, associated with abdominal distension, lethargy, poor feeding, fever, or reduced wet diapers, seek urgent hospital assessment. Ultrasound may be required if pyloric stenosis is suspected.

Next Steps
If vomiting is persistent take the baby to a pediatric gastroenterologist

Who advised you to give Domstal in a 2 months baby? Do an ultrasound to exclude pyloric stenosis.

Hi there. Continuous vomiting in a two-month-old infant should not be ignored. While Nexpro Junior is prescribed safely under pediatric supervision for severe reflux when initial drops fail, hydration and feed tolerance must be closely watched.   If the baby is dull, not feeding, vomiting forcefully, or passing reduced urine, immediate pediatric attention is necessary. For an accurate assessment of the dosage and a customized treatment plan, feel free to book a direct consult with me on Practo, or reach out directly on WhatsApp at six three six nine four six zero five seven seven.

Vomiting for 3 days in a 2-month-old infant needs assessment by a pediatrician rather than repeated anti-vomiting medicines. Reflux/overfeeding are possible, but pyloric stenosis and other causes should be ruled out.
Next Steps
* Pediatric examination; USG abdomen if indicated, especially with projectile vomiting. * Do not give Domstal or Nexpro Junior without pediatrician-directed dosing. * Continue feeds in smaller, frequent amounts and burp adequately.
Health Tips
* Keep baby upright 20–30 min after feeds. * Emergency care is needed if green/projectile vomiting, blood, poor feeding, lethargy, abdominal distension, fever, or reduced urine. Contact me anytime on Practo for further consultation.

I understand your concern. Vomiting for 3 days in a 2-month-old needs prompt review by a paediatrician; dehydration can develop quickly. Do not increase Domstal or add medicines without the treating doctors advice. Nexpro is not an anti-vomiting medicine, so follow the prescribed dose only.
Next Steps
Arrange a same-day paediatric assessment. If vomiting is green or bloody, projectile, or the baby has fever, poor feeding, fewer wet diapers or unusual sleepiness, seek emergency care. You may consult and book a paediatrician on Practo today.

Can you mention the dosage? There is nothing to be scared about because it can be given to babies in strict dosage. Vomiting for past 3 days is a serious condition. Is the vomit green/yellow coloured? Or does it have milk only?

2 months ke baby me 3 din se vomiting ko casually treat nahi karna chahiye. Feeding ke baad thoda milk spit-up normal ho sakta hai, lekin repeated/projectile vomiting, poor feeding, lethargy, fever, decreased urine output ya green-coloured vomit ho to baby ko promptly paediatrician ko dikhana zaroori hai. Domstal (domperidone) ya Nexpra Junior jaise medicines bina paediatrician ki proper assessment/dose ke continue/start na karein. Is age me vomiting ka cause identify karna important hai. Agar aap chahein to Practo app par mujhe personally consult karke baby ki complete history discuss kar sakte hain.

1.) Never give any medication unless a proper evaluation has been done by your consulting doctor 2.) Make sure you’ve been following the guidelines related to breastfeeding 3.) Keep the baby in upright position for 20-30 mins, after you’ve fed. 4.) Make the baby burp midway while feeding and after it is done The baby’s body is still adapting to the external world. Vomiting happens, if it is profuse, then you should get serious, otherwise he will adapt soon.
Next Steps
Please continue breastfeeding Do not give any medication without a proper evaluation of your baby. Nexpro junior is a strong drug for an infant, so if it was just prescribed, discontinue.
