Nail extraction surgery
Sir i m having a rod in my left leg after an accident and surgery in 2017 . I m thinking of getting it extracted from my leg. As i feel pain in the screw areas and i lunge a little while walking due to pain in the knee...
Is it safe to get it extracted after 5 years as the operation was done in may 2017 and now its 2022. What are the complications which i can face in future?? And will everything be ok after the surgery,.. i get mixed responce from my family members And friends regarding the extraction surgery.. nd how much does it take for the muscles and bone to be strong again... please give your advice.

Your tibia nail can be removed if it's causing problems. We usually leave rods in the body if it's not causing any problems because of the simple reason that any surgery is a surgery after all and has all those risks of Anesthesia and bleeding etc.
So if needed get it removed. It's a straight forward surgery. Risks are that implant can get stuck and won't come out. Or may break inside. Or may cause a fracture which will need another plaster etc.
Usually these don't happen, but there is a chance so you have to be mentally prepared.
