Muscles and gym

It's been 4 months i am doing gym. Taking good diet and also whey protein from last month. But i can see very little growth in my muscles. I have gained 4 kgs weight but very little muscle mass. Instead i can see that my Belly fat has increased. I am doing lot of effort in gym but not getting equal results. Is there any medical reason behind it? Pls guide.

Stressing the body may harm to body. Therefore moderate exercise may help. Take a glass of milk daily with protien powder. Take balanced diet.
