One week is still within the healing window for a neck strain. Morning pain after sleeping is very common as the neck stays in one position all night. Zerodol alone isn't always enough — adding a muscle relaxant like Flexabenz or Myospaz helps significantly. Sleep posture and pillow height also matter a lot for neck recovery.
Next Steps
Add a muscle relaxant tablet at night alongside Zerodol for 3-5 more days. Check your pillow height — it should support the neck's natural curve, not tilt it up or down. Do gentle neck stretches morning and evening. If pain persists beyond 2-3 weeks, get an X-ray of cervical spine done. Consult me on Practo for more help.

Based on your description, it is difficult to confirm that this is only a simple muscle strain. While mild muscle strains usually improve within 2–6 weeks with rest, medications, and gradual rehabilitation, persistent pain even after a week of treatment may indicate a moderate muscle strain, tendon injury, ligament injury, or another underlying problem that requires clinical evaluation. Continuing pain, especially if it affects your daily activities, should not be ignored.
Next Steps
I recommend consulting an Orthopaedic Surgeon for a detailed examination. Depending on the site of pain and clinical findings, an ultrasound or MRI may be required to identify the exact cause. Treatment can then be tailored accordingly, rather than continuing painkillers alone. An online consultation can also help assess your symptoms and guide you on whether further imaging is necessary.
Health Tips
Avoid strenuous activities or heavy lifting until the diagnosis is confirmed. Continue only gentle movements within your pain tolerance, and seek urgent medical attention if you develop severe swelling, inability to bear weight/use the limb, numbness, or worsening pain.

You may need to add muscle relaxants and collagen containing medications for complete healing. It may take upto 3 weeks for full healing. Also need to give that part a good rest.
