Inflammation and swelling of gum tissue over a partially erupted wisdom tooth (also called as pericoronitis) will cause referred pain in ears, difficulty opening mouth and jaw and pain with swallowing. However, gum swelling and pain in ears can also be caused due to infected molar teeth. Treatment will depend on clinical and radiographic examination of your mouth, medical and dental history.
