Hello sir / Ma'am My wife 28/F was diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes during her 28th week of pregnancy. Right now she is 34 weeks pregnant. We were unable to control her sugars with Diet control therefore our Gynaecologist adviced to use Merformin 500mg twice a day. I want to know is Metformin safe during pregnancy?? Insulin injection vs Metformin which is more safe at this time?? Some reports attached for your reference. Your opinion required on the same.

Her fasting sugars are in optimal range . Only prandial sugars are high. Insulin is the better option for her. Short acting insulin with major meal will be sufficient with regular monitoring.
