Hello Dr. I need ur advise. My baby will turn 2 years on 5th January. Dr. Suggested meningococcal vaccine. Is it necessary vaccine, should I give my child that vaccine? Please help🙏🏻

It is not routinely recommended by Indian academy of pediatrics for all children. It is advised only for high risk children who have other problems like heart disease etc and also if the disease is common in your area. So you have the option whether to take it or not after discussing with your Pediatrician

Meningococcal vaccine prevent Meningococcal meningitis. All vaccine prevent occurrence and complications of particular illness for which they r made. Meningococcal meningitis cases are sporadically seen in india in various parts and largely missed due to rapid progression of illness or lack of investigation facility. The illness is more prevalent abroad. If in case u r one of regular international travelers for holidays or otherwise u should go for it without second thoughts.
