Medicine Confusion

2025-07-22 14:50:46
My Gastroenterologist prescribed Colospa X ( two times before meal ) for irritable bowel movements and my general physician prescribed Cyra D ( in morning before breakfast) for UTI. Is both the medicine similar types?? Should I take both the medicines, if yes then what should be the time gap between them??

They are certainly not the same (or even similar) . Both have different compositions and different indications.

Dear patient, Both Colospa X and Cyra D are different medications with different purposes: • Colospa X is an antispasmodic used to relieve abdominal pain and cramps in Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). • Cyra D is a combination of rabeprazole (a PPI) and domperidone, used to treat acid reflux and improve stomach emptying. It’s sometimes used to ease urinary tract discomfort too. Yes, you can take both medications, but it’s important to maintain a gap between them to ensure proper absorption. Suggested schedule: • Morning: Take Cyra D on an empty stomach, at least 30 minutes before breakfast. • Colospa X: Take it about 15–30 minutes before meals, twice a day (e.g., before lunch and dinner). Gap between Cyra D and first Colospa X: At least 2 hours. Important: Follow the dosage and timing exactly as advised by your doctors.

You can take both. They both address different problems.. no issue in taking them both.. just give a gap of 10-15 mins

Those two are different combination medicines.Colospa x is meant for IBS whereas cyra d is for GERD.No harm in taking together with a 30 minutes gap.
