The lump may be due to infection from the teeth which causes lump periapically...
or infection that spread from the gums laterally and cause lump in lateral periodontium(supporting tissue of tooth )
If the lump is seen periapically(around the tooth root), then x_ ray (IOPA) of the adjacent teeth should be done to rule out infection...If infection is there ,then Root canal treatment is the only option
Lateral lump (lateral gingival abscess) is due to food stuck in the gums,rough tooth brushing...For this you need to do scaling(cleaning) done....and antibiotic mouthwash should be used..
