4-6 wks. Bed rest is usually sufficient.  after this you should use a Taylor's brace & start movements with in the house.

The current science do not recommend bed rest too long. You should walk around as pain allows. In young patients with good bone quality there is no role of prolonged bed rest beyond a point. However if pain is there bed rest for about 5-7 days is sufficient. Be mobile as per your pain. No need to be strictly confined to bed. However , a personal examination and examining doctr’s advise must be followed.
