Lower back neck shoulder pain

2022-04-03 09:44:27
I injured my lower back while deadlifting in January. I took muscle and nerve relaxant prescribed by the orthopedist. It didn't help. Went to therapy. I was told that I have deep muscle tear but 1 week into the therapy I was told I had a bulging disc. Due to time constraints I had to stop my therapy midway now I have developed a neck and trap pain also the back pain has spread to my upper back. There is also a numbness in the centre of the pain area. I can't sit straight without resting my back, lost mobility, sneezing coughing also trigger my lower back pain. To get a proper diagnosis what should I do next? MRI or LS(AP and Lat). Or Both will show the same result?

You definitely have a disc bulge, and being an IT professional continous sitting can aggravate the symptoms for you. An MRI would show a disc bulge pressing onto your nerve roots. You can directly start with physical therapy exercises and begin your betterment journey. The level at which the bulge exists can also be determined by a few assessment tests.
Next Steps

Yes, MRI will help detection. Numbness can only be due to issue with nerve. Nerve probably might be temporary swelling or dislocation of disc. Physiotherapy can help to treat alignment. After MRI go for orthopedic opinion and then go to physio. You should complete muscle relaxant dose and local application. It will surely not harm, but help only. Avoid massage. Include calcium rich foods like sesame. Use ghee in your food in substantial quantity.
