Unless there is some sign or suggestion of bleeding, 56000 is not something to be panicked. If needed Platelets can be transfused. Just keep looking for bluish patch on skin, bleeding from gums or nose. In Typhoid there is ulceration in intestines and any negligence to treat it may cause intestinal perforation, peritonitis, paralytic ileus threatening life. Proper antibiotics are the mainstay of treatment. Don't rely upon unqualified advisors and have faith and confidence in your physicians. They are there to treat illness, reduce agony and save lives.

Please ask your friend how to control active Typhoid infection without antibiotics. If we have to save water, it doesn't mean that we should die of dehydration. We have to be logical in our approach.

Better to admit as IV antibiotics is crucial in moderate to severe typhoid. As to friends opinion, kindly use his opinion only for other things and not medical related unless friend is a doctor. Main treatment for typhoid is antibiotics and is necessary even if platelets are low. During admission doctors will closely monitor patient while giving IV antibiotics and you need not worry about the medical specifics.

Such a low platelet count needs continuous monitoring. And typhoid 160 is not positive. Get her admitted in a hospital soon for further evaluation.
