Low blood pressure, which can cause fainting or dizziness because the brain doesn't receive enough blood. Low blood pressure can have causes that aren't due to underlying disease. Examples include family history of low blood pressure or medication side effects. Rising slowly from a sitting or lying position may help ease symptoms. Avoiding alcohol, drinking plenty of water and eating small, low-carbohydrate meals along with fruits and vegetables may also help.
Next Steps
Make an appointment to see a doctor if you: Feel dizzy or light-headed Experience fatigue Have trouble concentrating Take medication that can lower blood pressure See a doctor immediately if you: Faint Break out in cold sweats Breathe rapidly and shallowly Notice blood in your stool.
