Cough and mucus can persist for 2–3 weeks after a respiratory infection, even after antibiotics. This does not necessarily mean the infection is still active or that more antibiotics are needed.
Next Steps
Normal saline nebulization every 4 hours for symptomatic relief.
Saline nasal drops/spray + plenty of fluids.
Do not repeat antibiotics without a doctor’s examination.
As he still has a chest sound, consider a pediatric review if it is not improving.

Seek medical care if he develops fast/difficult breathing, chest indrawing, persistent fever, poor intake, unusual sleepiness, or worsening cough/wheeze.
