Hello, My mother recently got diagnose with stage 4 squamous cells carcinoma in lung which is spreading to her liver and bone also... she is an arthritis patient too and because of week bones she got a fracture in her leg too... We are confuse about her first treatment to perform. Should we go for the leg surgery first or should we treat the cancer first?? Medications for her bone health is ON but not for cancer yet... According to our consulting doctor we need to get the surgery done but many of our relatives suggesting to treat the cancer first.. What should be the correct way??

You can do both hand in hand.. Meet a ortho surgeon for bone fixation then after 3 days of surgery u can get chemotherapy or cancer treatment.. Minimally invasive bone fixations options are available with relatively early recovery ..

Lung cancer is one of the worst cancers and that too when spread to other organs not a favourable prognosis. Need to know which part of the leg fractured. If it is hip or any weight bearing part of leg then surgery has to be done provided her general condition is good. There is no cure for stage 4 lung cancers even when cancer medications are started.
