My husband's left shoulder got dislocated three weeks back. He was asked to wear a sling for three weeks. But we were also asked to consider surgery to avoid such instances in future. Is it necessary to get operated or can this condition be cured by regular exercises. Please advise

Start with exercises under supervision. If it dislocates again then a surgery will be needed.

Just for a random one time dislocation, immobilisation is minimum 6weeks for large joints like shoulder.

Shoulder stabilisation surgeries are of many kindy soft tissue, bony.. but those are reserved for someone with 2-3 dislocation per year, or some one who has habitual dislocation and for them who are apprehensive to perform daily or high need sports due to fear of dislocation. based on their experiences.

Does he have any seizure disorder ( epilepsy )? 5. Has she had any MRI of shoulder? If yes i need to see the films too. Regards Dr Vipin Gupta
