Hi, it is most likely that you have a joint problem in the area where your lower jaw bone connects to the skull bone which is called tempero-mandibular joint (TMJ). This could arise because of various reasons like - genetic, hormonal changes, any irregular position of teeth, depression, stress or due to problems in sleeping. It can also occur due to your repeated clenching or grinding of your teeth especially during night time. Kindly, do confirm with your sleeping partner if you do grind your teeth during sleep, as this may lead to your muscle pain near the ears and cheeks. In case you have improper position of teeth and you are undergoing braces treatment to get it aligned, kindly remember that braces treatment may or may not cure your TMJ problem. It depends on patient to patient. So, I would advice you to consult a TMJ specialist for your problem.
