Is it thyroid?
Hello Doc
My mother has suddenly gained around 6-7 kg weight, muscles are sore. little body ache, inflammation in whole body, cold and fever sometimes and there seems like a bump in the neck region around Adam apple.
Internet suggests underactive thyroid.
Please confirm it. How should we proceed?

See,you haven't mentioned if she was taking any prior medications.So will need a detailed history.
As for the symptoms you have told,it does indicate hypothyroidism but you will need a few tests done to confirm it as it may also be due to other problems.

There are many reasons for weight gain , seeing by ur symptoms it might be due to thyroid issue , so do a thyroid function test , If possible do Usg .
Cold clammy extremities are clasical of hypothyroidism

Need to know if your mother is on any antilipemic drugs which may lead to myopathy,Provided uncontrolled waight gain may cause such alterations in metabolism.Also do thyroid profiling (T3,T4,TSH) as a preliminary thyroid workup.

It could be due to various reasons . Get thyroid function tests and ultrasound thyroid .
Basic blood tests like cbc , liver function test . After your thyroid function tests it is better to do other tests like anti tpo antibodies .
