Hi, 1. You definitely have iron deficiency. To assess overall iron status, a "Serum Ferritin" test is more accurate. If Ferritin is low, injectable iron supplements are recommended. Otherwise, oral supplements for at least 3 months may suffice, depending on absorption. Iron levels typically improve after 3 weeks of supplementation, so a repeat CBC and Serum Iron test after 6-8 weeks can assess progress (optional; you can also test after completing the 3-month course). 2. Your RBC count is high for someone with anemia. To rule out thalassemia, your Mentzer index suggests a possibility, so Hemoglobin electrophoresis is advised for confirmation. If present, it would likely be thalassemia trait, which doesn’t usually cause issues. However, testing is important if your spouse is also a carrier, as this increases the risk of thalassemia in offspring.

Consult for Supplements, required tests and diet advise.

Boost iron levels with a veg diet rich in dark leafy greens (spinach, kale), legumes (lentils, chickpeas), nuts (pumpkin seeds, almonds), and fortified cereals, along with vitamin C-rich foods (citrus fruits, bell peppers) for enhanced absorption.

Don't worry. You should seek a formal consultation with a Gynaecologist or a General Physician with all your reports. The condition is manageable even though time consuming.
