What should my target blood
sugar level be during the third trimester of pregnancy?
Throughout my second trimester, my 1-hour post-meal blood sugar was consistently below 140 mg/dL with insulin. However, after entering the third trimester, my blood sugar levels suddenly started increasing. Even after increasing my insulin dose as advised by my doctor, my 1-hour post-meal readings are still between 140 and 160 mg/dL.
Should my insulin dose be increased further to bring my 1-hour post-meal sugar below 140 mg/dL, or are readings between 140 and 160 mg/dL acceptable during the third trimester? My doctor has suggested increasing the insulin dose, but I would like to understand what the recommended target should be.
Over the past few weeks, I have increased my Fiasp dose by 7 units before each meal (a total increase of 21 units per day) as advised by my doctor. Despite this, my 1-hour post-meal blood sugar is still between 140 and 160 mg/dL.
