If you really want to quit this habit, the first thing that you need is to make up your mind and have a strong mental determination...... according to my knowledge and experience, you need to act on it stat, because tapering down the dose can take a long time and can actually lead to reversal to the habit..... the withdrawal symptoms associated with tobacco are only psychological and if you have a strong frame of mind, you will not have a problem in dealing with them.....the blackening of the teeth can be corrected by a procedure called as scaling...... you can contact your dentist regarding the same....
