I feel fever

2025-12-12 02:43:21
Recently had a fever. After that, I keep checking my temperature. Sometimes it shows 98.3, sometimes 97.6, and sometimes between 98.3 and 98.9. Once it even showed 99.3. I’m confused and I want to know if I still have a fever.”

It is completely normal for your body temperature to change throughout the day, especially after a recent fever. What you are seeing on the thermometer does not mean you still have a fever. After a viral fever, it is very common for body temperature to fluctuate for a few days as the body recovers. Normal temperature can range anywhere between 97°F and 99°F, depending on the time of day, hydration, hormones, and even how the thermometer is placed. Readings like 97.6, 98.3, 98.9, or even 99.3 can all still fall within normal variation, especially if taken after meals, warm drinks, or physical activity. You only need to consider it a fever if the temperature is 100.4°F or above, taken consistently. Since your readings are below that threshold and your symptoms have improved, there is no sign of ongoing fever just normal post-viral fluctuations. Continue to rest, hydrate well, and avoid checking too frequently, as repeated checks can cause unnecessary worry. If temperature crosses 100.4°F again or symptoms return, then follow up.
