Hg is 8.5 g/dl after 24 weeks pregnant

My initial Hg level was 9.6 g/dl during my initial weeks of pregnancy. Now I am 24 weeks pregnant and I am taking Bizfer XT along with other prescribed medication from last 3 months. My diet also includes  Dates and Figs. My recent blood report showed a decreased value of Hg 8.5 g/dl. I am worried why it decreased after taking supplements and maintaining a healthy diet. Will it cause any harm to my growing baby.

Finding the cause for your anemia is important. sometimes nutritional anemia also doesnt improve with oral preparations. U can try changing the iron salt with folic acid and vitamin B supplements. Repeat hb after three weeks, if still low, iron infusions will help. Mid pregnancy hb does fall but you have time to correct it

Please consult with your Gynaecologist. I would have prescribed intravenous Iron infusion and other supportive treatment.
