The condition of a flap or gum around wisdom tooth is known as pericoronitis which leads to pain and swelling in severe cases..Due to food lodgement and inability to clean the site properly the pain persists..Visit a dentist to get it checked and suggest you for an OPG or normal x ray to find out whether pericoronitis is there or the wisdom tooth is impacted..Further treatment plan can be decided on that basis whether to remove the tooth or save it depending upon the clinical condition..

Your wisdom tooth may be infected from inside or the inflammation of the gums around the tooth due to chewing or food lodgement may be causing pain. Please consult an oral surgeon for the removal of the wisdom tooth
