Glans sensitivity

2026-08-27 09:06:44
Hello Doctor, I wanted to ask about my foreskin. I am uncircumcised, but even when my penis is in a normal/flaccid state, my foreskin does not fully cover the glans. Because of this, the glans sometimes rubs against my jeans and I feel discomfort while walking. Could you please advise whether this is normal, or if I should get it examined? Also, is there anything I can do to reduce the rubbing and irritation?

Glans ka foreskin se completely cover na hona har case mein abnormal nahi hota. Lekin agar walking ke time baar-baar rubbing aur discomfort ho raha hai, to ek baar proper examination karwana better rahega.
Next Steps
Filhaal tight underwear/rough fabric avoid karein aur area ko clean aur dry rakhein. Foreskin ko forcefully pull na karein.
Health Tips
Agar redness, swelling, pain, cracks ya discharge ho, to examination zaroor karwayein. Aap chahein to proper assessment ke liye mujhse bhi Practo par consult kar sakte hain.

Thank you for asking — this is a common and treatable concern, and nothing to be embarrassed about. A naturally short or partially retracted foreskin is a normal variation, and an exposed glans is simply more sensitive because it is not used to constant contact. Simple measures usually help a lot: wear soft cotton, well-fitting underwear (briefs or boxer-briefs rather than nothing under jeans) so the glans is not rubbing directly against denim, keep the area clean and dry, wash with plain water only, and avoid soaps, deodorants or antiseptic lotions there. A plain, fragrance-free moisturiser or petroleum jelly applied thinly can reduce friction. However, if you notice redness, cracking, a tight ring of skin, pain on retraction, discharge or difficulty passing urine, it should be examined, as conditions like balanitis or phimosis need specific treatment.
Next Steps
Try the clothing and hygiene measures above for 2 weeks. If the discomfort continues or you develop any redness, soreness or difficulty retracting the skin, get a quick physical examination — it takes a minute and settles the question. You can book a teleconsult with me on Practo to discuss it privately, or visit me at Synergy Multispeciality Hospital, Miraj (consultation fee Rs 100), and I will refer you to a surgeon/urologist only if it is really needed.

You should consult a General Surgeon in your area for a physical examination. From your description I doubt if circumcision will solve your problem. It might actually make your condition worse because after circumcision the complete glans penis will be rubbing against your jeans as long as you wear the jeans
