As ur dentist has adviced for scaling n u ve never got scaling done before , then its better u get it done , for ur healthy teeth n gums... But regarding ur gap between the teeth ,as this s ur major concern, without seeing clinically or radiographically , it s not possible to advice u for any treatment.. Need to ve a look at ur teeth before saying anything... Coz reasons could be many.. Go to a Orthodontist or any other specialist as Diagnosis s more imp.. Or u can consult our hospital too anytime...
