Flap surgery for gum disease

I have been having some gum bleeding and my doc recommends that I have a laser flap surgery that's estimated to cost about Rs. 25k. I don't have any pain with eating but there is gum bleeding on and off. The doc says there is bone loss and so there is need for 3 sittings of scaling and this surgery done in 2 sittings ASAP. I dont have any diabetes or blood pressure, and doc says such bone loss is seen only when you have taken any bp medicines or neuro medicines. Does this sound reasonable? Should I go ahead or try another consult?I'm going to the US next month, is it better done there or should I do it here in Bangalore? I'm 28, male.

See such cases happen most frequently due to deposition of plaque and calculus on teeth which causes inflammation of gum leading to gums bleeding easily. Sometimes they are visible( supragingival) and sometimes they lie inside your gums and can't been seen directly( subgingival). If there is advanced bone loss it can be judged clinically by checking the presence of pockets which is deep spaces between the gum and tooth. Other way to judge advanced bone loss is to take an OPG,which is a full mouth x-ray. BP medicines and neuro medicines generally cause the gums to be swollen too much without presence of dirty deposits. This is called gum hyperplasia. If you do suffer from severe gum disease which is most probably due to supra or sub gingival deposits , you do need a good cleaning and flap surgeries. But get I done in good hands. Get it done in India. In the US it is gonna charge you a bomb. Do join " Dr. Runit Nangalia's Painless Dental Practice " on Facebook to get more answers about oral and general health.
