The first thing to know is, does your hip hurt as you walk or stand on one leg(bad side).
Secondly does your hip click or clunk (make noises) on movement. Mostly if these are not there the hip joint, capsule are clear. However there is a specific test that needs to be done to rule it out fully.
-Secondly, Next with muscle adductor strain the pain is only on stretching or resisted movement, but not much on walking or single leg stance.
- Thirdly, any impingement. Does your hip catch as you move at a certain angle and then resolve as its out of that.
You need an appointment to rule these out....

Use ice if there is burning pain. It means there is inflammation...
If not use heat as mentioned earlier.
