Is febuxostat needs to be taken life-long? I suffer from high uric acid such as value goes past 8 value every other month, unable to control via diet.

Not exactly life long But yes it’s not a turn to drug. You have to take if for longer sessions say 3-4 months and then leave subsequently by monitoring uric acid levels.

People take uric acid medications for 10-12 days then repeat uric acid , they get normal value so they stop taking the medicines. Remember the normal value was with meds .. thus you have to take long .

Any medicine to lower your uric acid may it be febuxostat or allopurinol is needed on long term basis not necessarily lifetime but use it for few days and if your repetitive monthly test show normal results you may lower or stop the drugs and recheck intermittently.

Febuxostat or other uric acid lowering drugs are only recommended if you suffer from gout, uric acid stones or renal failure. If started for 1 of these indications, the drug is ideally to be taken lifelong. If  these indications were not there, then you need to consult with a Rheumatologist to confirm if you even need to take any drug
Next Steps
Consult a Rheumatologist (specialists for management of high uric acid and other arthritis)
