Differentiating between normal postoperative pain and dry socket pain by:
1. Intensity: Dry socket pain is often described as severe and throbbing, and it may radiate to the ear or jaw. In contrast, normal postoperative pain tends to be more moderate and gradually diminishes over time.
2. Other symptoms: In addition to pain, dry socket may be accompanied by other symptoms such as bad breath, unpleasant taste in the mouth, and visible bone in the socket. These symptoms are typically absent in cases of normal postoperative pain.
3. Response to pain medication: Normal postoperative pain is usually responsive to over-the-counter pain medications. If the pain persists despite taking pain medication, it may indicate a more serious issue such as a dry socket.
However, there is no sign of a dry socket visible and as seen in the photo it's healing properly but if you feel a throbbing pain I advise you to visit your dentist for a follow-up.
