Eardrum perforation

Hello ENT Doctors goodday i have eardrum perforation on my left ear due to scubadiving it is almost 9months but still not heal..As per my ENT doctor it almost 20% open.i hve no ear infiction so it could be heal to long or up to yrs. more? My 1st ENT doc. said was no healing sign and it would be forever open.& I consult another doc & he advice no surgery made because in his prev. surgery like myrengoplasty the tissue he patch was gone in long time & he said it could be heal but he cannot assured

Hi I would suggest you to go ahead with myringoplasty as it has been already 8 months and no healing has happened...and I don't think if it hasn't healed in 8 months it will in future on its own. Regards

There is a very less chance that it would heal. A tympanic membrane perforation heals by 6-8 weeks. If not healed in 9 months, surgery may be a better option for you.
