Please do not worry. A dog licking a plastic packet or object is not an exposure at all. Rabies virus spreads only when infected saliva enters the body through a bite, a scratch that breaks skin, or a lick on broken skin or on the eyes, nose or mouth. The virus also dies within minutes on a dry surface, so touching plastic that a dog licked carries no risk. This is a category 1 contact and needs no vaccine and no injection. Since you already completed a full course in June 2025, you are also well protected for any minor future exposure; in that case just two intradermal booster doses on day 0 and day 3 would be enough, and no immunoglobulin. You do not need a booster now just out of fear. Simply wash your hands with soap and water. If in future a dog actually bites or scratches you, wash the wound with soap under running water for 15 minutes and see a doctor the same day. You may consult me on Practo or at Synergy Multispeciality Hospital, Miraj if you want to review your vaccination card.
