Hi, the throbbing sensation in the tooth indicates that the filling may be very close to the pulp of the tooth that contains the nerves and the blood vessels. In such kind of cases i would suggest you a wait and watch approach. If the pain is constant and aggravates you should go ahead with a root canal treatment. Sometimes a change in the filling may also help.

You said u have pulsating feeling, sometimes it's not necessary to have a full blown shooting pain in the offending tooth. Be sure about the tooth, since u said that you 4-5 fillings .
