Disc bulge at l4 l5

Hello Doctor, I have had mild disc bulge at l4 l5. This pain also radiates to the side of my hips. Also after sitting for a long period my coccyx starts to hurt. And recently I had a bad sprain in my lower back that has worsened it. Although I have tried to manage it with 10 days of medications and still continuing with diclofenac ointment and repeated hot packs at the area. My question is that how to reverse this kind of degenerative disc issue over the time. What supplements can I take and what are the precautions I should be taking. What is the best sleep position? Are there any specific exercises for the same. Pl. advice. Thanks.

The entire problem is due to poor sitting habits that are putting pressure on the coccyx and hip. There are muscular imbalances and stiffness as well that is contributing to your pain. The MRI findings are reflection of wear and tear which cannot be reversed but attempts must be made to prevent progression.

You need a detailed examination of you back (spine) and how bad is disc bulge in mri films Then accordingly proper treatment plan can be workout. Mean time :- - Use proper mattress for sleeping - u can sleep any way as comfortable. - do not get up direct from bed, turn one side and push your self up. - avoid prolong sitting or standing - no forward bending or weightlifting allowed -if pain is controlled then you can start with physiotherpy sessions and they wil teach u specific excersies for abdomen and low back , hip ,  buttocks ,& knees .

So far I have understood from your history, you are having slip disc problem over that there is an element of trauma as described by local sprain, you also might have coccidyna. At present, you need to take brief period of bed rest in lying position together with some specific medication for attainment of comfort,    also proper examinations & investigations are to be done for further treatment protocol
